COMPREHENSIVE PAIN MANAGEMENT
Pain management is a vital part of veterinary medicine. At Jewell Animal Hospital preoperative pain management is part of every surgery we perform. All of our patients receive premeditation’s to help with the control of pain at the time of surgery and after surgery. All patients receive a local anesthetic block at the site of the surgery as well as take home pain medications.

DENTAL PROPHYLAXIS
We offer full dental care at our hospital. We use a state of the art dental unit much like those you would see in your own dentist’s office. When your pet has a dental prophylaxis we scale the teeth with an ultrasonic scaler, polish with an oscillating polisher and fluoride the teeth. After that they are sealed with a dental sealant to help retard the buildup of tarter and calculus. If extractions are necessary we perform them with as little trauma to the mouth as possible using a compressor driven drill and again use a local block of anesthesia for pain control at the extraction site for up to 18 hours after the procedure. OTHER SERVICES TONOMOTRY
We have the ability to measure the intraocular pressure in your pet’s eye to aid in diagnosis of glaucoma and uveitis (an infection within the eye chamber itself). Yes pets can get glaucoma too! To do this we use a small pen like instrument that is placed directly on the eye ball and it measures the pressure. Not to worry it does not hurt. BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING We have a noninvasive way to monitor blood pressure in your pet. Diagnosis of high blood pressure, especially in cats, is necessary to start early treatment and decrease the chance of complications such as blindness and heart disease.

MICROCHIPPING

They will also notify a net work of people within a 50 mile radius of your home to be on the lookout for your pet and allow you to print personalized lost pet posters from their webpage. VACCINATION SCHEDULE AND WELLNESS EXAMS
Jewell Animal Hospital offers all of the necessary vaccinations to start you puppy or kitten out with good start in life as well as annual vaccines needed for your adult pet. We base our vaccine selection on your pet’s need and exposure to disease. The most important part of your pet health care is the wellness exam. What may look like petting your pet to you is actually a skilled physical exam of your pet. Not only do we listen to the heart and lungs, but it is important to look at all parts of your pets which we will do each and every time you pet is here. It doesn’t really matter what the pet is here for we will do a complete physical at each visit. This will differ from your experience with your own doctor. We recommend that all pets have a wellness exam every 6 months if they are healthy and more frequently if they suffer from a chronic disease.
